Yesterday, I set up the bikes suspension, broadly using this guidance. I’m 110kg so it should work for me.
Previously, the bike was on a standard set up.
The main difference was that I put 12 turns on preload onto the forks but left the shock preload as it was.
The bike definitely feels better to ride. The forks are less choppy and it feels better on the brakes. It also seems to turn and steer more accurately.
The rear shock feels less jarring too but the improvement isn’t as noticeable as the front.
I noticed that the guidance recommends dropping the rear tyre pressure to 36psi. I may try that next.
All in all, 30 minutes well spent.

It was the latter than made the most difference. Before the additional preload, the rear still felt quite harsh but it now feels far more controlled and comfortable. The bikes steering seems a little sharper too. All in all, it’s now a very good ride and I’ve shelved the idea of buying an aftermarket shock. My advice is that if you think the rear is too choppy, add rear preload at half a turn at a time. See how it feels then. Richie

Can I ask what you weigh so I can have an idea how close those settings would be to what I need. Thanks
