I've had a set of Avon 3D Ultra Sports fitted - only £168 a set from http://www.fwr.co.uk - So far I've been very impressed - mainly ridden in the wet so far (about 500 miles) but they haven't budged an inch despite trying to provoke the TC and ABS into action. They feel pretty durable in the centre (dual compound) but have plenty of grip and warm up very quickly - even in the cold. I Haven't checked out the ultimate dry grip yet - but I've never been disappointed with Avons in this department since the Azaro. If you want a halfway house between a track biased tyre that will last 1,500 miles and a sport touring tyre like a PR4 or a Metz Roadtec 01 - this could be your hoop! Similar rear Avons lasted 5,000 miles on my Busa. They work well in the cold and wet, but are practically slick at the edge should you do the odd trackday. Word of warning they are very "chatty" tyres - you can feel what the road is doing, if you like your tyres to insulate your from the road these aren't for you! They are also very stable, the mild tank slappers I had with the stock S20s have gone - they feel a bit more neutral on turn in too. I'm not comparing these to worn S20s as I ditched mine after getting a puncture. www.fwr.co.uk/product/avon-3d-ultra-sport £168 for a set of quality tyres? Bargain!

Yep, despite looking like cut slicks - they're actually great in the wet! And being that they're not an over-treaded sporttouring tyre, they won't squirm or overheat when used aggressively.

Done about 2,000 on 'em now in all weather:- rain sleet, snow, ice and dry - they have been fantastic, tonnes of grip in all conditions, ultra fast warm up they don't look at all worn, I'll probably be booking the first trackday of the year soon so I'll get to see what they're like in those conditions too - my gut feeling is they'll be fine, they're slick at the edges which is always a good sign for the track.

These Avon tyres are currently on offer through M and P for £124.99! The pair deals on there are for the Avon 3D Storm XM which are sport touring tyres, they do sell the ones I've got (3D Ultrasport) but a pair comes in at £155 - still very good value.

Well, just got back from a trackday on these cheap Avons and they were great. Plenty of grip. I wasn't riding particularly fast but still, no problems. Attachment Deleted

PS that photo is post trackday and over 2,000 road miles on the tyre - they last well for sticky rubber.

Went out for a ride today, the tyre cleaned up up beautifully after the trackday - you wouldn't know it's been on the track - roll on Saturday for the next trackday!

Still lovin' these - but got an amazing update on a Thunderbird forum, someone ordered a 3D Ultra Sport by mistake (instead of a Storm XM) but fitted it anyway - these are 350Kg bikes with tonnes of torque - and eat rear tyres. So far he's done 6K miles and still has tread left!
Update on mine, I've had the pegs down without the tyres budging an inch, also done a trackday in the wet with no scary moments - still can't believe they're £158 a set!
