Hi all,
Potentially coming back to the Yam fold, my first bike was a Fazer 600 :-)
Currently considering swapping my KTM Superduke GT for an MT10 Touring, would be very interested in anyone that's made that transition, or even Superduke to MT10.
I'm not doing thousands of miles touring, really the odd weekend with the lads and then mainly I take my daughters on the back, the addition of a top box keeps the 9 year old happy she won't fall off :-) I've had various bikes over the years Including a Tuono Factory and Speed Triple R as my favourites, together with the GT.
From what I can see the MT10 meets my Sunday blast/odd weekend away/2 up with the kids requirement well, I haven't had the chance to ride one yet however.
Any views welcome :-)
Cheers, James.

Welcome! Wouldn't be my first choice for a tourer - hard seat, 100 mile range tops...
It is however my choice for one bike to do all - I mainly ride briskly for fun which it excels at, I've done a few hundred miles in a day before - not too bad (cruise control is nice).
I came from a 125 straight to this so can't help with the transition story though.

I came from a 125 straight to this so can't help with the transition story though. To be honest 95% off my mileage is just that, 1 up Sunday blasts. The rest is made up of days out with a kid on the back (maybe once a moth) and weekends with the lads (maybe 2 a year). Before the KTM I had a Sprint GT for the two up and weekenders and a Speed 3 R for the 1 up blasts but wasn't doing enough of either to merit 2 bikes, hence moving to one all rounder. The KTM is awesome, few niggles with stability at top end, useless mirrors due to vibration but nothing major. Now its coming round to refresh time the new KTM GT is silly money, whereas the MT seems very reasonable and something different again, which seems more appealing than keeping the current machine. I don't like the S1000xr looks and the price is KTM money, the Ninja H2 SX SE is appealing but again not cheap and the ZER 400 is long in the tooth and a bit heavy. If this Covid thing ever does on i'll certainly get a test ride sorted. Cheers, James.

Lancashire.
The current plan if nothing changes in terms of dealers opening up for test rides in the next two month, is to pay off the GT PCP when it's up in July then go from there.
Having had some pricing discussions with a couple of dealers working on line, I know there's equity in it so that's the main thing I needed to clarify at this stage as it informs the hand it back or pay it off decision.

Ah - was gonna lend you mine for a test ride but I'm on the South Coast. Just FYI you can pay off pcp whenever you like at no penalty (the opposite in fact - you save on future interest charges).

Thanks anyway :-)
Yeh, was just going to do it all as one transaction but may have to separate.

'Have to' as in if you want the bike ASAP?! Fair.

More a case of it I couldn't get a deal sorted before the PCP was up or couldn't get a PX equal to or above the PCP settlement.
Anyway, fortunately now in touch with a Yam dealer who has offered an amount for the KTM I'm happy with, just looking at figures on the MT10, along with waiting to see if any of the upcoming possible changes in lock down give me chance to view/ride the thing.
If not I'm not massively concerned about buying blind, I've read plenty reviews and like what I read, love how the bike looks, all seems good.
Wouldn't mind some views on riding position, from what I can see it seems pretty upright, ala the GT, Tiger sport etc, is that fair comment or is it more speed triple esq? Basically not going to put a lot on my wrists? I'm 6ft exactly with a 31 inside leg, the GT is not a short bike and is manageable, I see the MT10 is 1 cm shorter.
Advice welcome.
Cheers,
James.

You’ll be grand.
I’ve a 29” inside leg.
Ridding position is grand a bit more upper body leaned a tad forward.
There is no problem wrists and the power has a weight off effect hanging on.

Well couldn't get round the test ride issue but got a great deal and first service thrown in, along with strong PX on the KTM so decided to order the MT10 Tourer yesterday.
Ice Flou with Akro can and added the top box and rack to complete the package. Will see how the kids fit on the back and look at FJ09 pillion brackets if needs be.
Hopefully I'll see it this side of Christmas!
Cheers,
James.

Pillion pegs are short as you know, mode 2 will still wheelie like buggery if you want it to, mode 1is almost harsh but wheelie happy. I’m 5’7 on a good day but have one foot flat and the other on the ball of my other foot. Grin inducing EVERYTIME I ride it. Baffled De-cat from LeoVince is £175 and tones it down a little, scorpion can with link sound virtually the S.A.me as decaf with standard can so buy whatever floats your boat. Suspension is soft as standard but adjustments actually work.

Afternoon,
When I bought my MT10SP it had to be Sunday blast bike, keep up on a track, part time commuter, tourer and when I lifted the garage door I had to go wow! It does all of them with ease, and then the engine... well! Did Mugello last year doing approx. 250k's a day, biggest pain in the arse was having to constantly stop and fill it up, they are a bit thirsty. I'm 6' 1" and had no issues, small screen did its job reasonably well and the seat isn't too bad. I tested MT9 which was a bit small, BM S1000R, well equipped but Jesus its ugly! Street triple and speed triple, a lot of bang for your buck couldn't love it and the Aprilla Tuono, well equipped but cut out on the test ride as it was a bit damp! Get an MT10 you won't be disappointed!
