Well, as I’m not usually one to leave my bikes standard so I thought I’d stick a build thread in here just for myself really to keep track.
When I got it I had already purchased a Scorpion RP1-GP end can which I’d purchased used locally (£199), and that’s pretty much the way I go with parts as someone has already taken the hit on the tax etc., that way when I sell my bikes on I usually break even or come out of it favourably.
First complaint from new owners seem to include the poor quality standard pad compound, so a full set of front SBS 634HS pads were fitted which proved to be a superb yet cheap upgrade at just £30 from BikespeedUK.com
I bought a cheap J-Tech tail tidy at £26 from eBlag which allows you to keep the under seat key covers and wiring tidy, obviously I fitted the R&G crash protection to save the bike from the inevitable damage if it all goes t!ts up.
Shortly after the end can came the Leo Vince baffled decat (£175) as I think a full decat on these is too excessive.
After that I got some cheap mirrors (£9) but lost the glass in one so I decided to purchase another set which are near the bottom of this thread (£18) and are yet to be fitted.
After reading all the threads on the suspension I happened to stumble on a K-TECH DDS Lite on here for a bargain price and after chewing over it I decided to bite the bullet. Once it arrived I wasted no time in fitting it then I dialled in the settings as used by BJ from fast bikes (the rear was already set up for my weight by K-Tech) and whilst the bike feels awesome it still needs a little fettling to take away some of the harshness (probably too much rebound and compression).
Today I got home from work to find a little pile of bits here which make up the R1 radial master after reading how good an upgrade it is. The SP guard was purchased from ghostrider.1127 as I like the flash of colour at the front but I've not had much chance to look at it all as I had to take a run out to collect a comfort seat that my BIL had seen on Gumtree and I had spoken with the owner who agreed to keep it for me until I got home. Result!
The master cylinder upgrade was purchased in bits to keep the cost down, which included the master pump (£57), lever nut and bolt from Fowlers (£6), lever shoe adaptor to fit my CNC levers (£15), race style reservoir mount which can be bent to suit most applications (£15), some brake pipe (£8) and a Brembo smoked reservoir which cost me £34 but I have found loads of them for sale since at just a tenner (obviously fakes). I just hope the fluid pipe is up to scratch as I can do without a leaky fluid line???
Looking forward to fitting it all now.
