Hi all. I notice on the FB page that a lot a members are replacing there cat with a Y pipe connections and eliminating the valve cables. Can anyone advise me of the advantages and disadvantages of this. Thinking of noise and MOT emissions. That cat does spoil the look of the bike. I have the optional 'povic can fitted. Cheers

it really depends on you, what you want from the bike a lot of guys are removing the cables and leaving the valve open
As for me
I rode the bike for 6-month standard and decided to take all the euro-friendly emissions out
started with the exhaust, dumped the cat and replaced with the link pipe then the end can then dived in deeper and removed the ex up valve motor and fitted the eliminator removed the 02 sensors and fitted the eliminators
Dived in a bit deeper and removed the whole AIS system and fitted Blank (smog) Plates
Then ditch the standard OEM filter and replaced it with a DNA
Overall result much better as I was riding around in standard trim I felt the difference immediately, but you won't appreciate the difference unless you been riding in the standard form, some guys ditch as soon as they get and really can't compare the difference.
Just waiting now for a re-map and flash need to smooth out a few things

I have the Akrapovic 3/4 quarter system so the Cat is gone, cables and EXUP motor is gone, AIS removed / Smog Plates installed and 02 Sensors removed after getting the ECU Flashed for my system. The sound is mental and the bike runs smoother and stronger. Not to mention it cleans up the look of the bike and takes a ton of weight off the bike.
I have a video and pics posted up in this board you have posted.

I believe a remap is all you need you don't need a power commander. I have also removed my cat, and added new can, and to be honest it runs like a bit of a pig at around 5200 rpm, so I will be looking for a remap soon.

Mine kind of has nothing between 2.5k and 3.5k which is a bit annoying. Don't want to remap till I have my akropovic end can. Only really effects me pulling away and I've only done about 100 miles so I'm sure I'll get used to it a bit. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
