Hi Crew
I'm wanting to clean and polish the stock headers and exhaust as they are in need of some attention. To do the job properly I was thinking of removing the headers but leaving the cat and stock can intact. I've searched this forum and the interweb thingy and can't find the removal process anywhere. Being a tradesman it looks straight forward but I want to make sure there is no ugly surprise I'm not seeing. Has anyone done this before and what is the procedure?
Cheers

Mine were the biggest pain in the arse to separate brute force with a big rubber hammer in the end, not pretty blood everywhere.😪

Fkn hell harri183, you haven't painted a pretty picture for me there, lol. I wasn't expecting it to be such a struggle, it was more a query of unseen parts falling off and me wondering 'WTF did that come from' ! Thanks for the reply, I'll keep a big hammer and plenty of band aids handy. Cheers Jim

Mine were that bad I had to remove headers and cat then put in a vice and beat 10 bells of crap out of as I couldn’t get them to separate, used penetrating oil as well. Others have reported no such problems. If I remember you have to remove rad/oil cooler bolts so it drops to get at header bolts not a big job if you can get them to separate. 😉

Not too bad then if you have already carried out a decat. Mine only had 400 miles on it before I decatted it, came apart easy.

Mine has 10,000 kilometres on the clock. Yep was expecting to remove oil and radiator. So I'm gearing up for a battle with the autobot.

I tried to change my headers without removing the cat and did not suceed, decided was much easier to just remove cat and silencer

I decided to leave the headers in place as it was becoming a bitch to remove the pipes just for cleaning purposes. Took about two hours to polish them. If I ever do this again I'm going to remove them from the bike and then get them ceramic coated. Thanks for the info guys.
