Hi all, Have a look at the attached pic. Oil weeping from left hand case on a 3 month / 3000 mile old bike. We are about 1000 miles from home right now so could really do without a Yamaha recovery ruining our holiday. Anyone with any experience? Much appreciated! Tim

I should add oil level is absolutely fine, in fact I would go so far as to say slightly over full from the 600 mile service. Anyone who has seen this before or who has an idea what it may be much appreciated. Am I right in thinking there is a simple o ring behind there?

Don’t worry. There is a simple O-ring behind. The access is used to turn the crank for valve clearance check etc. A new O-ring and your bike is all new again. :-D

Yeah, its just a simple O-Ring. A weep like that is not a big issue. That’s a minor minor (like 2 drops of) oil weep and as if / as the oil level is ok there is no need for overly worrying / or recovery.
The Hex Allen Cap just might only need tightened up; I’d check if it’s tight.
To check if the cap is loose, if no Allen key that size is handy, the head of an appropriate size hex bolt could be used with nuts put onto it and then spanner used to turn it.
Wipe around dry / clean up the area and keep an eye on it.
You’ll get home. No big problem. Keep us posted. Best wishes.

Thanks all. Interestingly we gave it a wipe today and cleaned it off. Completed about another 160 miles so far today and no sign of it again at all.... yet.

Got back fine thanks, another slight weep by the time we made it all the way but even smaller than the pic you saw. Dealer replaced o ring while she waited and all good!

What size hex bit removes the screw to get to the o-ring? Will much oil spill upon removal of the screw? I have the same oil seep. Salt on my roads so I won’t ride to dealer and dealer wants $50 ea way to pickup with transit vehicle.
