Hello all
I am wanting to remove my cat for the added power but where i live the added noise can be quite problematic and honestly, i don't want to be heard coming hot from half a mile away. Currently, i have the Akra slip on and i am fine with the sound volume.
I was wondering if anyone has checked what exactly is inside the cat box and if it is possible to cut out the cat and leave the labyrinth as sound deadening. I have seen this done on other bikes but not on the MT/FZ
Another possibility, if it was just the cat doing the noise deadening, could be to make a mid pipe with a small high flow cat in place so that we don't pollute and still get a better sound and performance.
Thanks

I don't think there's a big gain in power when removing the cat, so can't see it's worth doing just for that. I removed mine for cleaner looks and better access to the suspension linkages (mainly for cleaning) I have a Leo Vince decat which has a small sound absorbing section (perforated tube) it doesn't restrict flow. It looks ok but I don't think it's the best looking, it does take the edge off the noise of a straight through mid pipe. In time I might get a custom mid section made up and fit a longer end can which I can angle upward for better looks, the longer can will make less noise. The other option is to fit a removable baffle to the Akra, they are available and people on here have done it.. Which ever route you go an ECU re flash is recommended. .

Yes, i understand the SW flash tune required. I was planning on doing it regardless of the exhaust option i eventually go for.
I just learned about the removable baffle for the standard akra end can here but is not clear to me which model fits me as there seems to be two different part numbers floating around.

Think it's tuv227 that fits and you have to drill a hole.
