I have just fitted on a set of Pirelli Angel GT tyres. I've 400 miles done on them. I like them. They are great. I'd guess the rear may last me at least 4000 to 5000 miles of Sporting on and a few trips etc. They might even do over 5k if I go easier on them. I've had 4 off rear Bridgestone Battlax S20/S21 sport tyres on and 2 of the fronts on over the past 10000 miles So these Pirelli's are the first sports-touring tyres that I've had on the MT-10. I though I'd miss the super sticky sports rubber of the S21 tho when I pushed the Angel GT on I found that they are grand. The rear will / should I guess last me a few thousand miles or more the average 2400 miles or so I was getting from Bridgestone S21rear Battlax. The Pirelli's are light weight tyre and that helps the suspension, so they say, but that does seem the case. They soak up rough road ripples quite well too. So there you are now. How the hell did you make the rear last 2,250 ish miles on an S20!? I've been through 2 rears in 2400ish miles... Thinking about fitting a set of Metzeler M5s... £238 fitted though seems alot though By going on trips mainly. First original S20 did 1800 miles and 1k was running in.

I can't praise these Avons highly enough - I've been riding all through winter on 3D ultrasports, slush, ice, rain and more rain and they have not budged an inch and warm up really fast. Even bedding my Brembo pads in this morning, braking hard from ~130mph in the wet - not a twitch. On the few days we've had decent weather they've felt plenty grippy - such that I'm not even considering swapping them out for more track-biased tyres for my two trackdays next month. I've found 35F/38R to be the best pressures for me on the road. £147 fitted is a steal!

That looks repairable - looks like there's only 1mm left in the centre of the tyre anyway.

I am surprised the GTs only have ~1mm left after 3.6K miles, I would expect that class of tyre to last longer than that - used to regularly get 6-7K out of rear Avon Storms on my Hayabusa. A boggo Michelin Pilot lasted 5K. Talking of Storms as another OP has mentioned somewhere on here mandp are doing a set of Avon Storm XMs for £124! www.mandp.co.uk/avon-storm-3d-x-m-tyre-pair-120-70zr17-58w-190-55zr17-75w.html

My Roadtec 01's are only half worn after 4K, My riding style is probably different to X Plane's though.

Like at 1 minute into the video. Think depending on use that well over 5k is possible in certain hands

Like at 1 minute into the video. Think depending on use that well over 5k is possible in certain hands I used to get the footpegs (and fairing) down on the Busa regularly - the footpegs were higher up than on the MT-10, and still, the rear Storms would last 7K miles.

As it is torque that mainly wears rear tyres. May be the deceiving MT mid range grunt wears them or / also maybe Angel GTs could be softer. Or maybe I’m accelerating too much on the roads

My Busa made 148NM of torque and 195NM with the laughing gas (gas not used that often admittedly) a tad more than an MT-10. and given the long and low nature of the bike, full throttle in 2nd gear at every opportunity was the norm in my day to day riding. Tyre and bike combos are very strange things - a softer tyre can last longer if the harder tyre is too hard given the riding conditions and it's therefore subject to more slip, the slip will increase wear - so in this example if the said rider rides aggressively enough to cause higher tyre-slip rate percentages for a harder tyre - then going softer will give them better durability.

Interesting. What I can confirm, from my usage, is that: On my MT-10 a Pirelli Angel GT covers twice the mileage of a Bridgestone S20/S21 rear. And this doubling of the mileage over a HyperSports tyre was enough for me to do a class continental trip without the need of any mid-trip tyre changing, or faffing about, at all. Twice the mileage for i’d estimate more than 90% of the excellent sports grip; which is not too bad in my book. 👍 😉 😎

Just for the crack and for Info:.... On another (the original MT) forum a member said that he heard a mate saying (classic mates says) that the Angel GT tyres do not age well. Well I assume he was implying that a tyre a few years old (even tho new) was / would not be as good (grippy I assume) as a freshly made one. Well, that may be slightly true in general with in certain realums and limits.
However, I looked at my new rear Angel GT and it was made mid 2016 and I can say it feels no different to the first one I put on last year; which I would say was from same 2016 batch the dealer got. Therefore, at this stage I’d say I have no concern on shortterm ageing, (of tyres that is) lol. Can’t say what they’d be like at 5 years old, tho for me I think tyres will not be on that long.
I Got a 50 mile run on MT today, to scrub in the new tyre, it was cracker as was the bike, Nitron Shock and tyres. The Whole package is working well.
Of course always nice to have the freshest tyres as possible. I put a rear on my Pegaso too and it was made in week 50 of 2017. 👍👍
