Another big shout for the Avon Ultra 3Ds here. Had them on my 98 R1 last year and was seriously impressed with them. You get pair deals from M&Ps now and again too where they're silly cheap. Like £149 a pair! !

Like £149 a pair! ! I used to run Avons on my 98 R1 way back when, it was the only tyre that calmed the tank slappers down!
As for the 3Ds ultrasports for £149 - considering they were right up there with the best in the recent Performance Bikes sports tyre test road and track - it's not as if you're compromising on performance when buying a pair of tyres for the usual cost of one rear! My rear is now on the markers and I was riding like a bit of a tit on the damp the other day - still no dramas. The front tyre in particular is epic, grip and confidence no matter what you do - even trail-braking when you really shouldn't!

Hi,
Have Michelin power rs fitted. Good tyre, 2300 miles from rear. Track use tore a strip out of them between the 2 compounds (rear tyre, running Michelin recommended pressures on day, Cadwell park) less so with ohlins shock fitted (croft) but still there. Limited in the wet due to slick edge of tyre. My opinion is a good road tyre, great feel and front tyre. Ok for track (easily destroyed) good in damp but limited in wet conditions. I would honestly say that for the real roads and weather, a metzler m7rr or Bridgestone s21 would be better (tread extending towards edge of tyre, rid of water) Even metzler roadtec 01 (amazing in wet) if primarily road based riding. When I come to change, I think I'd try bridgestones s22 (out in new year)
Hope this helps someone,
Rich

I Think the lack of thread of the edge of RS is not a factor as most slow off in the wet and never get over on the edge in the wet so it more in the mind than actual. Feel feedback of RS is best and there’s a nicer cushioning affect from bumps and rough road surfaces. So yes as a real world road tyres Power RS suit MT-10 the best I’ve tried. Agree hope this helps...

Could literally fold the tyre its that supple! (Warm tyre, noticed when getting new rear changed) so different to Bridgestone. Perhaps why a few psi is so noticeable with these. forgot to mention the profile of the tyre stayed very good during its life, no real flat spots. whilst there is science behind the tread pattern, can help but think it's a lot to do with fashion too, tread to the edge ain't as cool as a fat slick shoulder! Think new Pirelli like this, probably the way all going now. most major brand tyres are more than good enough, amazing compounds giving even wear and grip. having said this, may even stay on these, especially if the power days track offer is back in next year! cheers, Rich

^ Yeah mate ^ I’d describe the pliableness as they are like grippy tyre balloons that last longer. All good. Was out today and still getting used to how differently better they are. New tech 👍

I got 3k out of the oem rears, replaced them then for another 3k and 6k out of the front and now I need new tyres. I don't track, just road ride (sometimes a bit aggressively, but I'm not quite knee down yet).
What should I get? Won't be riding much in winter but I'd rather sometime with a bit more life.

The S21 Bridgestone are great. Though the Michelin Power RS are more comfortable, have better turnin profile and are way grippier. Power RS are a great around real world road tyre which are grand in the damp conditions too and like the S21 will track.
Michelin built the Power RS for real world use the extra suspension cushion feel and better feedback are great. They are like grippy balloons that last longer.
Though some will say the cheap Avon 3D things are grand.
If I were you I’d stay away from Sports Touring as you still learning and the extra grip of Power RS or S21 be useful and you not doing 3k plus trips. But Pirelli Angel GTs are good Sports Tourer you get about 4k rear and 8k front, my fronts Angel GT sides worn off before the middle did.
But liking being back to sports tyres.
That’s my pennies worth.
I may upload a longer review vid that I did on Power RS they really suit the nature and character of the bike.

I don't see the logic personally. For me at least, 6k will be a lifetime of riding. If I have to replace a pair of tyres every 3 years then that's not a serious expense and I think I'd rather stick with what I know. If anything I'd be going for grippier rubber than longevity and in the 550 miles I've done in cold weather these S21's (or what ever they are) have been perfect.
...but for the sake of this thread I have had good experience with Metzeler M7RR's. When I had the Street Triple R I replaced the standard Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2's (or whatever they were) and it took a little while to recalibrate my brain as they are a more neutral steering tyre that the Pirelli's but once used to them they were faultless.

Agree ^ the S20 Bridgestone on the bike are ok/grand the S21 are slightly better especially in their feedback.
Though the Power RS are up one or two notches in feel, way nicer grip level and confidence and the much better cushioning affect is great as harder Suspension settings can be dialled in.
I also don’t really care if they last more or less than the S20/21 Bridgestone though I think they will be in around the same or more. And that will do me.

I made a balls of this video but kept it up as it’s funny. The audio sped up lol and is out of sync too Jest is the Power RS Tyres from Michelin are great even in cold and damp patchy roads.
