Hopefully the high heat from the welding would not transfer into frame too much as heat might melt out the grease from the steering head' lower bearing or effect the lower bearings rubber seal. Might be err grand, I'm saying nout Mnn... However, Should grease melt out then a yoke strip down would be needed to repack the grease in and or may be replace lower bearing if it has integrated rubber seal affected. I would seriously be tempted to pull the bottom yoke steering head out first before getting it welded. Actually I would pull the whole steering yoke stem out. That would make the best job of it and would help getting at it to weld it up all round top, bottom and sides. The Steering damper works well and is so important and well worth fixing right. A good welder will grind out or file a Vee all round the entire joint edges to strengthen the weld penetration.

I have another bottom yoke on standby and bearings but yes you are right I will drop the bottom yoke anyway prior to the weld
what im trying to find out what colour code for the black for yamaha so once done i can repaint

Sounds like a wise weld plan... I've no idea on the frame's paint colour code. Looks like a stain finish type black.
