The Avons fitted to my MT-10 did very well in Performance Bikes two part (road and track) test, they were at pains to say there were no bad tyres - just orders of how excellent they were! Given that the Avons are £70-£140 cheaper than the rest - well, I think that makes them #1. These were blind tests so in theory shouldn't have been any brand bias from the riders. On track there were two test riders, the second at the sharp end of the fast group. In my "Bargain Sporty Allrounders" thread, I assumed the Avons were slightly behind the latest sports rubber in ultimate grip, hence the price - looks like I was doing them a disservice - they are right up there according to PB. Tyres were tested blind at all times. On track the S21s were apparently a step ahead of everything else.
