So I have had the Bike long enough to find out that I am not that keen on the handling when pushed. Unless the road is super smooth it doesn’t like it which is a real problem for our roads and it feels set up too firm, it likes to have the power on round corners to take the load of the front it’s just a harsh ride on anything other than super smooth roads
1. I’m a big lad. 2. Previous owner was a straight line man as rear has a flat spot in the middle of the rear and it may be that what I am feeling.
I intend to get new shock and tyres when I can afford it (4kids) but does anyone else feel the above and tried to adjust it set it up better.
Opinions please

Depends what you mean by "big lad" the rear suspension bottoms out quite easily with 16 stone+ riders making it feel over damped but it's actually the suspension running out of travel, winding rear pre-load up to max will help, but the fundamental issue is it's under-sprung and pre-load can't fix that - just hide it a bit until you ramp the speed up. The stock shock is fine, the spring is the problem.
Try taking a couple of clicks of compression and rebound damping out the front as the damping is fairly stiff stock. Put a cable tie on the stanchion to see how much suspension travel you're using, if you're not using most of it you can take some pre-load off to soften her up a bit.

Cheers will have a play, it’s one thing I have never touched on a bike as the few times I have I made it far worse.

One thing to really nail is the rebound damping front to rear, push the bike down (video it if needs be) and compare how quickly the bike springs back, the front and rear have to return at the same rate or the bike will feel awful (disjointed) over bumps.

PS if you're worried about tinkering with your suspension, get yourself across the pennines to maxton suspention, they will fit a spring suited to your weight and will set the rest of the bike up to match, a rear respring is easily the most cost effective way of sorting the suspension.
