If you ever remove the bikes battery, for any reason like winter storage etc, THEN please please ensure that when reinstalling the battery that you put it in the same way i.e. with the battery laying down on its back with its terminals to the rear of the bike.
AND NOT BATTERY STANDING UP ON ITS BOTTOM WITH THE TERMINALS TO THE REAR OF THE BIKE
as the wrong standing up way round install means that the battery's terminals are the wrong way round and the battery leads can then be wired on the WRONG way round (reverse polarity) incorrectly black earth wire to battery ve + and Red positive wire WRONGLY to - which will fry bike electrics/fuses...
Note: the battery can be safely charged in the bike.
Hope this saves people trouble.

Guys further to X PLanes post on reverse polarity or connecting battery wrong way around. Firstly you will blow main 50amp fuse, big red one under the seat, this will get the bike lit up again if however the bike turns over but just spits and farts, you will then need to check the ETV fuse under panel on left hand side 7.5amp, if you haven't fried anything else then your up and running at full steam again, if not you need to keep looking but in most cases this will sort it.
Hope this helps and apologies if this has already been mentioned.
P.S. Just don't connect it the wrong way around is the best thing
