Bought it new in June 2016. Have covered 16000 happy, scratch, tour, miles. The bike is (trust us) brilliant. End of review. Lol. PS I may write up more later.... PPS Still loving it is a sufficient review.

Plans for it? How long and how many miles do you see yourself doing on this one,, will the next Bike be a change. I usually change mine every 6mo this but I see this as a keeper, well a keeper for me that is 3-4 years.

I usually change mine every 6mo this but I see this as a keeper, well a keeper for me that is 3-4 years. It’s an actual real 10 year + keeper for me. I Plan / hope to ride it until I’m 65. So that is 10 years away. I Can’t see me selling it unless need to trade it in for big trailie when I hit 65. So Plan hope is to get it to at least 25k miles. I’d love to get it to 50k miles. I believe it can do it no sweat. It makes me want to ride it and ride on passed destination and that’s a good thing in my book. Who knows what will happen but my current plan is it’s a long term keeper.

Excellent write up. The descriptive word use and artistic way you painted us all a picture of the whole 16000 miles is amazing!!!
LOL!!! I agree. I still love it is more than enough said. I don't see me ever selling mine. It will just stay in the stable if I get another bike down the road.

I have followed a few of Nick sanders Yams and remember one of the mags pulling his R1 motor down at 50k and they said it was like new no wear barley run in and I bet it had a hard life all that dust and rubbish going round the world. I like mine and plan to mod it as I go to try and make it better and more enjoyable, also I have wasted too much money on changing them every 5min so we will see.

Yep, keep it, that is good as I believe the FZ/MT-10 is a legend already and will become classic in years to come. And will become a landmark bike for Yamaha just like their RD 400 and RD 350LC etc were, these bikes were inspirational in the MT back to fun design brief. Besides as now that the bike is also known as / called an MT the FZ-10 in the States the FZ name Models will become rarer. The bike is great and it’s engine character and the way that it makes power is magical. 👍

Changing the rear shock, for me, made me decide it is a total keeper. It’s the one thing that made the bike for me ride the way it was designed for and made it more enjoyable in every type and way of riding. It is the affordable reliable do all road bike nature that wins me.

I have also noticed quite a few that are starting to show up wrecked online that being sold by salvage companies for parts so maybe the number of them on the road will drop. LOL
If I could find some one that could design a "Tasteful" decal that labeled it as a "FZ10 Limited" I might even be tempted to put a couple decals back on the bike. LOL

Yeah I'm still at that point where I love it and wouldn't want to trade it for anything on the market but at the same time hate it because it's not mad enough on the surface.. they should've been so much more daring and bold with the colour scheme.. if I can convince black horse to let me get it sprayed it'll be a keeper lol. Would like to see some pearl white and blood red.. or a colorful flake in the tech black paint just to make it stand out a little more rather than following the trend... They ripped the rulebook up with the MT-10 and let the engineers build what they wanted to build.. didn't let their artists loose with the colours though. Shouldve looked something like this... Because that's the character it reveals once set up and the bond and trust is there..

I finally ended up here as well .. I completely agree, it's a keeper, even though I have some quality issues. The headlights have cracks in them, probably because of vibrations, saddle is loose, a panel fastener has come of and now it's dingling, stupid saddle lock is under the fender, the display has cracked, etc. Much like a KTM, only the engine seems to be holding up well. About color schemes, I love the night fluo, but I'd go for a pearl white-candy apple one. Or maybe something like Aprilia mint green with neon pink details

Funny cause it’s a while since I have had a Yamaha (4xv R1) last one and compared to that the quality is pants everything feels thin and cheap and compared to my vfr1200 well worlds apart. Let’s hope they haven’t cut corners on the engine.

Maybe with all the electrics it’s a weight saving exercise
