Ok, a wee bit of advice if I may. I haven’t really used my bike over the winter. And it’s been pretty cold in Kent.
I have a trickle charger, and I’ve used it periodically but certainly not every day. Not every week to be honest.
Tried to the rn the alarm off today and nothing. And turned the key and nowt on the dashboard.
So question. Would it just be that the battery doesn’t hold the charge now? What are the original batteries like?
Could it be something worse?....

Hello mate,I know from experience with bikes and cars that the cold weather knocks the shit out of batteries and it’s more than likely that your alarm has drained the battery when you have had the bike laid up. Personally over winter I always remove bike battery when season is finished and store it indoors,as I have no power in garage.Every other month I put the battery on the optimate for a few hours just to monitor it. My method has worked for me for years. Try removing the battery from the bike and charging it slowly, you’ll probably be able to rescue it .

^ Agree it is most likely just a dead battery.
Concur I too remove my battery to indoors into the warm house and charge it every month or so too.
Be more tempted to get new battery, old one may recover but could be weakened.
A New battery is not mega mega money.
If a bit flushed there are new light weight fancy new lithium batteries that weigh very very little and hold a charge much better (a year) and have more cranking starting power, tho a new special charger is needed (if need to charge, they come charged) but they are much dearer. Up to you.
again, I’ll say it’s just battery dead, an alarm, the cold and or the dreaded P position on key drains batteries.

Cheers guys. I just got home and the charger is green, so saying fully charged but there’s nothing at all from the bike or alarm.
I’ll give a new battery a go and see from there. Hope it’s just the snow recently has killed it.

Hope it’s just the snow recently has killed it. Oh, as light went green, check main fuse first.... New battery still may be needed tho but with green light dash should have lite up. Try volt meter or old 12 v bulb on battery to see if over 12 volts or bulb lights. Dash should have come on if over 12 volts.

Optimate trickle battery charges are fantastic using mine on the 10 just leave it on. Used same charger on all my bike's for past 10 years no probs

Hope all works out ok. Cannot see it being anything major other that battery / fuses.
Coldness and Alarms can be pesky annoying battery drainers.

I’ve purchased a main fuse (£17!) so shall clean up the contacts and see if that works.

It's unlikely a fully-charged battery kept on a trickle charger will freeze - unless you experience some seriously cold temperature - -20 or colder, what's more likely is the battery in the alarm itself froze - damaging it, leaving the bike immobilized.

Hear what you are saying DM agree in general.... Though here in this case, and here comes the ‘but’, but SunnyB describes periodic charger attachment and that he had no Dash electrics at all. What i I am not sure on is alarm? (he must have an after market alarm fitted). Tho, SB has now said he got new main fuse now. So a reasonable charge or new/good battery and new fuse should bring up at least the Dash electrics. I’m sure SB will report back 👍

Thanks for the advice guys. She lives! I cleaned the battery connectors with contact cleaner and cleaned the main fuse also. Put in a new fuse and boom! However, I’ve a feeling the battery isn’t holding the charge too well so I’ll probably replace it anyways.

Also had a read of the alarm docs. It’s a data tool red 4. Apparently the battery of this will discharge completely if the bikes battery goes below 10.5 a. This might also be a contributing factor.
